About Dr. Elbaum

Dr. Susan Elbaum is a dedicated physician with 25 years of experience providing thoughtful, personalized medical care. As a member of Pioneer Concierge Medicine, she is committed to developing meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and their families. Her approach combines clinical expertise with attentive listening, accessibility, and a deep understanding of each patient’s individual health goals.

A lifelong resident of the North Shore, Dr. Elbaum grew up in the area and continues to practice locally. She attended Deerfield High School and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign—Go Illini!—before earning her medical degree from Rush Medical College. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center. Over the course of her career, she served as an assistant professor at Loyola University Medical Center before transitioning to community medicine. Board certified in internal medicine; she is committed to medical excellence, lifelong learning, and providing compassionate, evidence-based care. Her clinical experience brings a depth of knowledge and perspective to every patient relationship.

Her clinical interests include preventive medicine, cardiometabolic health, and obesity. Dr Elbaum values collaboration with specialists and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care and assist patients in making informed decisions about their health. The concierge model allows her to provide longer visits, enhanced access, and a more personal level of care.

Dr. Elbaum and her husband live in Northbrook, where they are raising their three children. When she is not practicing medicine or spending time with her family, she enjoys trying new recipes, reading, traveling, and playing pickleball.
